The MOONGLOWS are a six-part vocal harmony group that specializes in all genres of vocal group music, performing live shows in and around Salisbury, North Carolina. The Moonglows have quickly become Salisbury's premier vocal harmony group and a fixture at many local music performances.
Formed in 2017, this versatile new singing group includes Kent Bernhardt, John Brincefield, Bill Bucher, Carol Harris, Kay Peeler and Lauren Stephenson. Experienced performers drawn together by their appreciation of vocal harmony and live performance, the group first appeared together as "the 'Bury Home Singers" at the original "'Bury Home Companion" show, a Salisbury Symphony fundraiser held at the Meroney Theatre on August 26, 2017. Since then the group has performed at the Rowan Blues and Jazz Festival, the Charlotte Motor Speedway Club, Spirit Square in Charlotte. the North Carolina Transportation Museum and at various fundraisers, church and retirement community events. Each of the group's members has a wide variety of live music and theatre experience, both locally and elsewhere.
The Moonglows perform with recorded tracks or with live musicians, depending on your budget and what is required for the event. Generally we require more time to prepare for events where we are to be accompanied by live musicians, so you may wish to take that into consideration when planning ahead for bookings.
The Moonglows incorporate wit, charm and humor into their performances along with a wide variety of great tunes, making for a pleasant and memorable entertainment experience appropriate for any occasion. The group is versatile enough to meet almost any need for live musical entertainment.
Kent Bernhardt
Kent is a longtime Salisbury broadcaster, well known locally for his 19 years as host of WSTP's morning show. He is an actor, writer, voiceover talent (heard in video games and Will Ferrell's "Talladega Nights"), and of course, a singer with The Moonglows. By day, he is the Production Coordinator of The Performance Racing Network (PRN) at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
John Brincefield
John has performed as a singer and actor locally for years. He has been in more Piedmont Players musical productions than he can count! When he’s not on stage he shares the management duties of his company, Carolina Curbing Co., Inc., a NC company that specializes in commercial concrete site work and construction, with his two sons, Joel and Josh. He and his wife of 49 years, Cris, have 3 children, Joel, Josh & Liza, who have given them 10 wonderful grandchildren.
Bill Bucher, JR.
Bill Bucher has loved performing live music of all kinds since the 1970's when he covered keyboards, guitar and vocals with the guys in his high school garage band. He inherited his taste for jazz from his father, Bill Sr., a World-War II veteran, self-taught jazz pianist and lifelong jazz and big band enthusiast. Bill also performs as a vocalist with the Rowan Big Band and has also appeared in several PPT/ Meroney Theatre productions and on the Lee Street Theatre stage. Bill and wife Gayla share two daughters, two great sons-in-law and three grandchildren.
Carol Harris
Carol is a jazz performer and "Disco Diva" from Akron Ohio, only taking several years out of the limelight to raise a family. Since she and husband Ric moved to Salisbury 18 years ago she has rekindled her love of performing! Starting with the original Black Box Theatre in Salisbury, she played a role in the creation of the Lee Street Theater. She has performed in the Lee Street Cabarets (10 years!), the Country Music Shows, the Bury Home Companion shows, Salisbury Rowan Choral Society and various events and fund raisers. Carol and Ric have raised 3 amazing children and now have 1 precious grand baby!
